John Balzer's Family Donation Program Matches Donations to the ALGSA up to $20,000!

In honor of Alagille Syndrome families, John Balzer, a true Friend of the Fight, has pledged to match $20,000 in donations to the ALGSA for Rare Disease Day! John lost his precious wife, Melanie, in 2020. The two had always made giving back a way of life. John credits his enthusiasm for philanthropy to Melanie's spirit guiding him to worthy causes and communities like Alagille Syndrome, and we are so fortunate for both of these loving people.

"When I think of someone with a rare disease, it is not rare to them. It is their everyday life. Each day, they hope their situation improves.

Often, a rare disease receives little or no financial aid. That is a shame because donations are the lifeblood for research and aid in helping individuals with the disease. My family and I are extremely proud to donate money to the Alagille Syndrome Alliance (ALGSA)."

John understands the need for funding and recognizes our work for the Alagille Syndrome community.
