Shambhavi Ravishankar / ALGSA FIGHT for a Better Life 2024

I believe the written word can create connections and enhance empathy for people around the world. For example, I found the ALGSA through a post on Facebook, where my responding to a parent's question set off a lifetime of purpose, community, hope, joy, and connection. Similarly, through all my hospital visits and ALGS struggles as a child, reading became a saviour. My mother would read Winnie the Pooh and the Elves and the Shoemaker, and old Indian fables to keep my mind energised and hopeful. Through my Fight team, Team Shamy, I want to use my love of writing to connect with you all, and spread hope, and joy, and awareness about ALGS. I will write poetry for each person who donates to my Fight team - a poem that is uniquely for you!

About Team Shamy: penning hope and connection!

I am an adult ALGS warrior who loves to write and sketch - they give me a lot of comfort, hope, and help me work through the challenges I face living with ALGS. I wrote my first poem when I was 7 or 8 years old - on world peace. Since then, I've written dozens of poems and short stories. My wattpad page (here - https://www.wattpad.com/user/ShambhaviRavishankar) has most of my writing. 

For the ALGSA Fight for a Better Life 2024 campaign, I want to tap into my love for poetry by helping you capture a special moment - a unique poem just for you/ your loved one. 

You can write to me at shamyr@alagille.org with the answers to the specific questions, along with a screenshot of your donation (between $5 and $10 US dollars. You can of course choose to donate a larger amount) to my Team Shamy Fight page. And I will reply to you with a poem that is uniquely yours to do with as you please :)
